Digestion : Gastrointestinal Health
Research and clinical application continue to reinforce the relationship between Gastrointestinal Health and its impact on seemingly unrelated systems of the body. Not surprisingly, with roughly 80% of the immune system housed within the gastrointestinal tract, a comprehensive understanding of Human Physiology in not required to appreciate this connection. Whether resulting from improper food breakdown and absorption, an overgrowth of non-acute non-infectious microorganisms (Dysbiosis), a lack of beneficial bacteria, or increased intestinal permeability (‘Leaky Gut’), a local or systemic inflammatory response can occur and potentially lead to pain, fatigue, allergies, neurologic dysfunction, and/or degenerative disease. Supporting digestion at every stage is fundamental to sustained health.
